Service area — Knowledge & Succession

Secure the knowledge before it leaves the building.

We at Röhrig Industrie Consulting structure roles, processes, handovers and onboarding so your organisation works less dependently on individuals — and succession becomes plannable instead of a risk.

Schema einer Übergabe: Wissen wandert von den Erfahrungsträgern zur Nachfolge, die Rollenmatrix schließt sich.
How knowledge passes on.Experience sits with a few key roles. Captured, structured and handed over, the role matrix fills in field by field — until the successor works independently.

Scope of work

  • Knowledge retention ahead of retirement, departure or a change of role
  • Succession readiness: risk assessment of critical roles and a succession plan
  • Structured handover programmes with a tandem phase and milestones
  • Onboarding concepts and work standards for key roles

Most industrial knowledge is not documented. It sits in people's heads — with foremen, designers, maintenance engineers, in work preparation and in technical sales. When that experience retires, a company loses its ability to react long before the reporting shows it. We capture critical knowledge along the processes where it is needed: who decides what, on what basis, with which exceptions. Out of that come work standards, checklists and decision rules a successor can actually work with.

We treat succession as a project with a schedule, not as a date. We clarify the requirements of tomorrow's role, name the critical positions and their exposure, and break the handover into packages: a tandem phase, defined transfers of responsibility, and milestones that show whether the role carries. What stands at the end is not a closing presentation but a position that can also carry the appointment after next.

Typical situations

A wave of retirements
Several foremen, designers or maintenance engineers leave the company within a few years. Their experience is written down nowhere.
Succession at the top
The handover to the next generation or to external leadership is due. The advisory board, the banks and the shareholders expect a plan that holds.
The organisation hangs on individuals
Without certain people the decision stalls. Holiday, illness or a resignation becomes an operational risk.
